If BeepBuddy is connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth, Smart Alert will also activate after approximately 5 seconds.
This means that pulling the top ring can both:

Depending on your phone and its emergency settings, Smart Alert may begin an emergency call, including calling 000, and may notify your nominated emergency contacts and share your location.
To stop the audible alarm, push the top ring securely back into the device.
5. How to Activate Smart Alert Silently
You can also activate Smart Alert without sounding the 130dB alarm.
To do this:
Rapidly press the side button 5 times.
Do not pull the top ring.
BeepBuddy will send the Smart Alert command to your connected smartphone.
Your phone will then respond according to the emergency settings you have configured.
Depending on your phone and settings, this may include:

Beginning an emergency call
-
Calling 000
-
Notifying your emergency contacts
-
Sharing your location with your emergency contacts
This allows you to activate your smartphone's emergency features discreetly without first sounding the alarm.
6. How to Test Smart Alert
We strongly recommend testing Smart Alert once you have completed setup.

Make sure SOS Personal Alarm shows as connected in your Bluetooth settings.

Rapidly press the side button 5 times.
-
Watch your smartphone and confirm that the emergency sequence begins.

-
Confirm that your phone responds as expected.
Do not intentionally place unnecessary test calls through to 000.
7. Using Smart Alert While Your Phone Is Locked

Your phone still needs to be:

We recommend testing Smart Alert while your phone is locked so you are familiar with exactly how your phone responds.
